BIO FUEL
WHAT’S BIO FUEL?
Bio fuel is a fuel which is purely abstracted from natural resources like plants and living things which can be grown and harvested again and again. Bio mass can be easily converted to liquid and gaseous fuel, this type of fuel is called Bio Fuel.

PURPOSE OF BIO FUEL:
Bio fuel is
petroleum substitutes mostly used for transportation, for heating and producing
electricity. Instead of creating fossil fuels, bio fuel is made from bio mass.
MOTIVE OF PRODUCING BIO FUEL:
The world’s most important and demanded energy source is petroleum oil. 70% of petroleum fuel is utilized by the transport sector. Usage of petroleum is increasing day by day. By prediction by 2070 – 2080 there will be shortage of fuel worldwide to meet the needs of fuel in the future, Production of bio fuel has to be raised. The Bio Energy Technologies Offices (BETO) is collaborating with industry to produce next generation bio fuel from natural resources substitute to fossil fuel. BETO focus on the production of hydro carbon bio fuel which is known as “Drop-in “fuel.

TYPES OF BIO FUEL:
Bio fuel is
considered to be a renewable energy sources. Bio fuels can be produced from
agriculture, domestic or industrial bio waste. The waste to energy
methodologies is applied to form bio fuel. There are three types of bio fuel.
1. Bio Ethanol
2. Bio Diesel
3. Bio Methanol
Most
commonly used bio fuel is two type Bio Ethanol and Bio Diesel.
BIO ETHANOL:
Ethanol is derived by fermenting sugar or starch from various plants materials collectively known as biomass. The process of fermentations the micro organism metabolize plant sugar, produce ethanol. Ethanol (CH2 CH2 OH) an alcohol is used as blending agent with gasoline to increase octane and remove carbon monoxide and smog causing emission. The ratio of ethanol blending 10% with 90% gasoline, it is known as flexible fuel vehicles. Brazil and United States of America is leading producer of ethanol. In US ethanol is made from corn starch.

BIO DIESEL:
Bio
degradable fuel manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats or recycled
restaurant grease, used cooking oil. The fuel is produced by trans esterification,
a process that converts fats and oils into bi diesel and glycerin. Bio diesel
blends can be used as heating oil. The US National Bio Diesel Board defines
“Bio Diesel” as a mono-alkyl ester. Bio diesel is an alternative clean burning
renewable fuel similar to conventional diesel, used for fueling vehicles and
heating devices. It has lower emission of toxic gases.
BIO METHANOL:
Methanol fuel is majorly used in racing cars. It is safe for the environment, anti freeze, it results in horse power. It is made from non food yields from agriculture and woodland residues. It is cheap to produce when compared to other fuels. It has lower risk of flammability compared to gasoline.
ADVANTAGE:
1. It is less expensive.
2. Sustaining a clean and healthy
environment.
3. Non toxic, sulfur free, bio
degradable nature, originating from the renewable source.
4. Increase wild life area.
5. Reduce erosion.
6. Cleans water borne pollutants.
7. Store carbon dioxide from the air as
carbon compounds in the soil.
8. Restore fertility to degrade lands.
DISADVANTAGE:
1. Cost of labor and requires huge space
for storage.
2. More water consumption during dry
climate.
3. High price.
4. Deforestation.
Bio fuel will be very effective to meet the demand in future. As it is from natural resource it will benefit the nature in all ways. Production has be increased in order to reduce the usage of fossils fuel which affects the nature in a certain way.
